Pimp My Life

Last month I was in Germany as part of the CLC European Prayer Weekender... and we stayed in John and Inge's house in Ittlingen, in der nahe von Heidelberg. I had been there before, and on the previous occasion had helped Heinrich change a dark dirty garage into the shiny white kitchen you see pictured below.

Bex has already written a good precis of the trip, which you can read here if you like. Here is a picture of Jason, having just beaten me in a race up the steep cobbled road to Heidelberg castle: yeah Jase, yeah! I am getting old and can't quite keep up with the pace of young whippets like Jason, who runs regularly and gets up early in the morning, neither of which I can boast.

Anyway, on the first night we were there, Jana drove us to a nearby town where they were having a friday night worship thingy. I really enjoyed it, especially as the talk was by an american dude who didn't speak german, so it was everyone else who needed a translator! On the way out we found leaflets for their youth outreach meetings, and here it is here:

"Pimp my life" - Pimp of course is an acrostic: Prayer, Integrate, Mercy, Praise and Salvation, which is handy, as it doesn't mean pimp, y'know.

I was given a DVD by another local youth leader of a film they had made to raise money for somesuchness. It was 6 episodes of 'Pimp my Bible' where pimp really did still mean pimp. As you can guess, the pimpers took the pimpees Bible, and quite literally pimped it out. Very nice.

The component words of the acrostic seem a bit unconnected to me - almost as if they came up with the slogan first and then built the content around the word "pimp"...

But Joe, good to have you posting again. I hear there's some rotten filth concerning animals in some way coming up soon.

Now a question: There's a track on the "Smooth" CD you gave me - WHAT IS IT? It's a hip hop track and follows Raspberry Beret. Chali 2na from Jurassic 5 is definitely in it (can't miss that voice) but I don't think it's them. Might be though. Can you help?

I agree that at first glance it may seem like they just picked out words from worship songs to fit into the acrostic PIMPS... but remember this: they are german and although their english is quite good, it isn't as good as ours.

The track is Family Rap by Breakestra (extended 12" version) featuring, of course Chali 2na, yes..

I am not acquainted with Mr/Miss/Ms Mrs Chali, [Ch as in Chip or Ch as in Chalet?], and is her/his surname Tuna? It's not a familiar construct to me..Is s/he a fish?
